Hi Stephen, (not sure if my initial reply went through)
What a blast from the past I was in for when I turned the channel to CBC last night - I must admit it was the hair that first got my attention I started listening to the inteview with George - when I realized why it was that I was drawn to your familiarity - now you’ll have to go way back for this one….to the eighties…
Remember a bike trip you went on to Europe - Blythe & Co. it must of been 1985 -ish? I’m sure you are the same fellow (with the same wild curly back then locks) that was on that trip. I don’t know if you’d remember who I was back then - Jennifer Perdicaris - you can refer to my website www.jenkennedy.com to see my photo.
Anyway - I just wanted to say - in regards to your interview- (and I am a bit of a political hound myself) I as a person of the more conservative persuation would have to agree with you on the issue of today’s liberalism. I have thought that way for a time now. Really - in a true utopian setting we would’t have parties - you would just vote for the person you felt best suited to represent you - and they as the appointed politician would be there to represent the best interests of his or her constituants. I think parties these days spend more time and effort dividing interests then representing them.

So it seems you have done well for your self - congrats! And congrats on your latest book - wish you many successes…

Donovan... sorry I did not get a chance to read this before-hand. I agree there are many problems with Canada, but since the focus of the book was specifically America, and in comparison Canada is a far more socially just nation, it would have been hard to turn the lens backwards. But thank you for this, you should sign up and blog on GNN.. There is a very strong Canadian contingent who would appreciate a concise report on the state of affairs there.

Hey,
I am in Toronto. If you manage to read this before the interview. That George Strombolopolous character is a JERK. I, as an American in Canada, am SICK to DEATH of Americans coming to this country and going on and on about how great Canada is and how bad the States are. there are PLENTY PLENTY of aweful things happening here that the state controlled media the CBC, does a FUCKING HORRIBLE job of covering, but they love anyone who criticizes the states. PLEASE try to do a real interview, ask that dude about poverty in toronto, or the fact that 1 in 3 kids in Ontario grow up in Poverty, or the Native standoffs, or the fact that Canada isn't following the Kyoto protocol, or bring up Mahar Arar!!
